NOTAM Code[PDF]

The NOTAM Code is provided to enable the coding of information regarding :

  • the establishment,
  • condition or change of radio aids,
  • aerodromes and lighting facilities,
  • dangers to aircraft,
  • search and rescue facilities.

The NOTAM Code is a comprehensive description of information contained in article NOTAM.

COMPOSITION

Example covered in the article: NOTAM

Q) LFBB/QMPLC/IV/ BO/ A/000/999/4544N00013E005

All NOTAM Code groups contain a total of five letters. The first letter of the code group is always the letter Q to indicate that it is a code abbreviation for use in the composition of NOTAM. The letter Q has been chosen to avoid conflict with any assigned radio call sign.

The second and third letters identify the subject reported upon and the fourth and fifth letters denote its status of operation.
