HQ Pilot Group Presentation[PDF]

INTRODUCTION

The IVAO Headquarters Pilots Group is a group of skilled pilots, which task is, to provide enough traffic or to perform difficult operations where a controller exam takes place.
The main task of this group is to provide experienced and qualified pilots to division ATC examination.

Usually our pilots are required to perform unexpected manoeuvres, such as a rapid decompression descent, bird-strike or engine failure … etc.

Why this group have been created ?

  • to provide to ATC examiners skilled pilots in order to execute the most difficult manoeuvres with minimum of message or communication
  • to lower the examiner attention and to trust our pilots because they are trained to fly every approach and every departure and simulate efficiently emergency situations.
  • to ensure that our pilots have been tested on their english proficiency.
The main priorities of HQ Pilot Group are the knowledge, concentration and execution skills.
Note: As a sign of membership , our pilots get a special HQ Pilot badge inside their profile. (HQ pilots badge and status will be removed when pilot leave the Group).

REQUESTING HQ PILOT GROUP

The service provided by the Pilots Group is available by request for any controller exams and some official training managed by training department of division.

REQUEST THE HQ PILOT GROUP

The examiner and trainer who want to invite the HQ Pilot Group can request the assistance of the the group via IVAO training admin page.
Rule: HQ pilot group can only be requested by the examiner or the trainer of the training department of division which host the exam.
The Pilots Group needs notification about 4–5 days in advance to reach all pilots. Try to make your request as soon as possible, as the requests are processed on a “first come first served” basis. A maximum of 3 exams can be allowed per day.

EXAMINER ORGANISATION

When your HQ pilot Group request have been approved, the examiner can organize his exam with the HQ Pilot Group:
  • Every examiner can call the HQ Pilots for a briefing about 30 minutes prior to the start of the exam in the channel “HQ Pilots Group” on cc.ts.ivao.aero. The examiner is invited to participate to assign tasks and ask questions.
  • The pilots will try to complete all tasks that are requested in the briefing or ordered via text during the flight, in function of the traffic around and in function of ATC examinee capabilities.
  • When more than 4 HQ pilots are attending to an exam, the examiner has the choice to request an exam supervisor. An exam-supervisor is a person who is in contact with all pilots to coordinate different situations. The examiner can still contact all pilots directly.
